held our 2nd PTC today.[/caption]
I have been inactive these past few days, and am so sorry about that. Work has been too busy. My plate is full and just too hard to juggle all.
These days, we are having a one-on-one conference with the teachers regarding the progress of their students and the goals they have for each student. The rationale behind is to give the program team, including me, an idea how the student is doing and progressing inside the class. Sometimes, the parents just approach us and ask about their kid's performance, but it's hard for us to answer because their kids are not our students. But, because we are part of the management, they assume that we know these things. Hence, we come up with this activity. I started last week but is not done yet. I will plot the schedule of the teachers under me and make an appointment with them.
Now, we just finished our 2nd Parent-Teacher Conference (PTC). Yes, we worked on a Saturday. It comes with the responsibilities. Well, I'm so relieved that finally it's done. It's super duper exhausting yet fulfilling. Exhausting because I spent a month to prepare for this. First, I informed the teachers about this a month before so that they can block off this date and won't have any conflicts. Then, I gave out the invitation letters to all parents. After a week or two, I waited for their reply. As soon as I got them, I plotted their chosen time on the schedule. Once everything is finalized, I sent to the parents the confirmation letter. It wasn't smooth-sailing because there were changes of the schedule from time to time. Plus, some teachers wouldn't be able to come for they already have some prior commitments. As the organizer of the event, I have to adjust with the situation. Fulfilling because we, parents and teachers, were able to carry it out successfully despite the hectic schedule.
The day has come. It started at 9 in the morning. So, I, together with other teachers, had to come an hour earlier to prepare everything. We made a welcome banner for the parents, then prepared the food and the materials, report, and score sheets we needed. I'm also glad that the manager came.
We finished almost 5 in the afternoon. I got home totally exhausted.
Advantages of PTC:
1. It's a good chance for parents to know the progress of their kids and their behavior. They can also suggest ways on what else to focus on and how to help improve more the English skills of their sons/daughters.
2. The teachers would know more what the parents really want for their child. They are informed of the expectations of the parents. Through this they are guided on what to include and not to include in the class.
3. For the academy, it strengthens the bond between the school and the parents. The parents feel that the academy really cares about the progress of their sons. That the teachers are not only spending an hour or two with the kids just for the sake of teaching, but the teachers not only teach but is also concerned of the overall growth and development of the child.
I really appreciate those parents who came. They are really hands-on to their children. Kudos to those parents!
I would also like to thank all teachers who came and made extra effort. Saturday is the time for family and time to recharge, but they gave their precious time. Without them, this activity won't be possible. Preparation, hard work, and cooperation paid off! Above all, thanks God for everything.
Side note: Responsibility, more often than not, feels more like a burden. It is heavy. Yeah, it's true. Nonetheless, the success that comes with it is so sweet that it wipes away all the stress and pressure.
EMBRACE RESPONSIBILITY.
